Day trip to Ulm

Ulm is one of the major cities in Baden-Württemberg and famous, amongst other things, for its spectacular minster right in the centre.
Today, Ulm is an economic centre due to its various industries, and is the seat of the University of Ulm. Internationally, the city is primarily known for having the church with the tallest steeple in the world (161.53 m or 529.95 ft), the Gothic minster (Ulm Minster, German: Ulmer Münster), and as the birthplace of Albert Einstein.
The area around Ulm is thought to have first been settled back in the Stone Age. The first official mention of the city was in the 9th century, when it was being used as a 'Königspfalz' - a German term meaning a temporary palace which would be used by a travelling king and his retinue.
Over 80% of the town was destroyed during bombing raids in the Second World War - the famous church spire remained untouched, however.
