International Student Identity Card

The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is the only student ID which is accepted throughout the world (including EU and UNESCO). It includes a passport picture and is currently valid from the date it was issued on (usually September) until 31st December of the following year.

The Studierendenwerk is not responsible for issuing ISICs.

Enrolled students can usually obtain an ISIC in travel agencies should their universities not offer this service.

The German-French Social Security Card still exists, but is no longer issued in Munich. Its functions have been taken over by the ISIC (see above).
