Accommodation in a Studierendenwerk Hall

1. Final rent payment

In general, your tenancy agreement runs until the end of the tenancy as specified in the contract. The rent will be taken from your account, as agreed on, until the tenancy ends. If you're planning to move out of your room before the last rent is due and would already like to close your bank account, please immediately get in touch with our Rent Accounts Department:

mieten@stwm.de

phone: +49 89 38196-280  or
             +49 89 38196-206

For Servicepaket students:
The rent is always paid in advance covering a three-month period as requested by the Rent Accounts Department.

2. Deposit

The deposit you paid for your accommodation unit will be returned roughly four months after your departure. In order to cover potentially higher utility costs such as heating, water etc., the Studierendenwerk keeps back €100 from your deposit for the time being.
Should your utility costs be higher than the €100, the Studierendenwerk will keep the remaining deposit. If you used less than the €100, you will get money back. This process is called “Nebenkostenabrechnung” (i.e. settlement of utilities paid for and used, in a given time period).

DON’T FORGET to give your hall’s administrative office the details of your home bank account so that whatever remains of your deposit can be transferred to your account!

Please also check your letter box and emails regularly to see if there’s news from the Studierendenwerk.
