cultureclubbing goes DOK.fest München@home
“Q&A” session with the directors
For cultureclubbing and in cooperation with the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern, DOK.fest München@home will be showing the documentary ZUHURS TÖCHTER (directors: Laurentia Genske & Robin Humboldt, 2020, English subtitles) about two charismatic trans sisters.
“If your son or wife does something forbidden and you don’t kill them, you have to leave. But who is capable of killing their own child? Your child is part of your soul.” That is the reason why the father of two trans daughters fled with his family from Syria to Germany. The sisters’ strength, honesty, style and humour are fantastic. They show us how hard it is in our world to simply be oneself. If you are not man or woman, you are made to feel insecure, are laughed at, despised or looked at. So they set out to look for support so that others see them as “proper” girls: consultations, therapy and finally operations... a road that is both painful and fulfilling. This intimate, funny as well as upsetting film will sweep you away and open your eyes for the most normal thing in the world: to be seen as the person you are.
THIS YEAR, DOK.fest IS TAKING PLACE AS AN ONLINE FESTIVAL.
