Arriving by Public Transport

From Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) you take an S-Bahn going east and get off two stops later at “Marienplatz”. There, you get the U3 towards Olympiaeinkaufszentrum/Moosach or the U6 towards Garching-Forschungszentrum; stay on till you reach the third stop “Giselastraße”. Get off and follow the signs towards Studierendenwerk/Mensa. Keep towards the right and go up the two escalators. At the library (pink building to your left) you need to keep left, walk towards the canteen and keep walking till you see the red entrance saying “Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern”.

Arriving by Car:

(Please note that there are hardly any parking places available close to the Studierendenwerk!)

Coming from Nuremberg on the A9/E45
Stay on the A9 at the intersection München-Nord (72)(13). After a further 5 km, go off the motorway at the exit for München-Frankfurter Ring (no. 75). Change to the right-hand lane after about 1.5 km – don’t go over the bridge! Under the bridge, turn left towards the city centre onto Ingolstädter Straße, which turns into Leopoldstraße.

Coming form Stuttgart/Augsburg on the A8/E52
At the motorway junction München-Eschenried (79), keep towards the right taking the A99/E52 in the direction of Nuremberg (A9) / Salzburg (A8) / München-Ost / Messe / ICM / Deggendorf (A92) / Flughafen München (Munich Airport). After 15.42 km, go off the motorway at the exit for München-Neuherberg (12), taking Ingolstädter Straße in the direction of M.-Neuherberg / Oberschleißheim. After 300 metres, bear right to stay on Ingolstädter Straße in the direction of Munich. After about 5 km, turn left onto Leopoldstraße.

Arriving by Plane:

From the airport to the city centre you can take either the S-bahn or the airport bus.

S-Bahn
The journey takes about 45 minutes. Take either the S8 towards Geltendorf or the S1 towards Ostbahnhof (Munich East) and get off at “Marienplatz”. There, you either get the U3 towards Moosach or the U6 towards Garching-Forschungszentrum and get off at “Giselastraße” (three stops). See above for further directions.

Airport Bus
The bus takes roughly 30 minutes to reach the stop München-Nord. From the underground station here (U-Bahn Nordfriedhof) you take the U6 towards Klinikum Großhadern as far as “Giselastraße”. See above for further directions.
